Friday = Wimbledon. The week had just flown by, and before I knew it, it would be time to fly home. I was so excited for this day. Madison & I had waited and anticipated attending Wimbledon for so long and we were super excited. We wanted to get there early and see EVERYTHING! Matches did not start until 11 or 12 (depending on the court), but we still wanted to get to the courts early. We had Centre Court seats and Debenture Lounge tickets. We got there around 11:30 and we strolled around the complex. I never realized how big some of the small courts were because it was on TV. Madison bought a program and a shirt, I bought a Wimbledon shirt and a key chain and my dad bought a hat. Before settling in to watch some tennis, we made our way up to the lounge to find sandwiches, a salad bar, roast chicken, desserts, drinks, and of course, strawberries and cream. Everything looked and tasted great. The first match on Centre Court was Nadia Petrova vs. Justine Henin. No one in my family likes Justine too much, so we went to our seats towards the end of her match. My family was dying to see Lleyton Hewitt vs. Gael Monfils. We love both of these players and we didn't care who was going to win. Gael didn't play his best, so Lleyton won, but it was still an enjoyable match. Roger Federer followed them. My dad is the only one who roots for Roger, as my mom, sister and I think he wins too much. And of course, what did he do, he won. Since the three matches of the day finished ahead of schedule, we were treated to some mixed doubles as well, with Brits Jamie Murray (Andy's brother) and the teenage sensation Laura Robson (she is Madison's age!). They played Vera Zvonareva and Andre Sa and the crowd cheered them on with much gusto. The Brits did not win, but it was quite fun when the crowd oooohhed and aaaahhed. The whole day was incredible and I must say, I think it was my favorite part of our whole London adventure. I am so glad that I was able to attend Wimbledon.

Walking Wednesday
The trip was going by so quickly, one day went by another and finally it was Wednesday. The same morning routine of chocolate croissants and orange juice helped me wake up. It was time for a walking tour of London and I couldn't wait. The gathering place was right outside a train station so all we had to do was take the Tube to Westminster. Everyone had finally arrived and it was time to take our tour with London Walks. Our guide's name was Helena. She took us to all of the main points of London. We walked and walked and walked. We saw Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square and even the changing of the guard. (Madison got in front of them and even took this picture as they marched down the street. I thought she was going to get yelled at or run over, but luckily she didn't.). Our last stop was Trafalgar Square. While we were there, we saw two boys doing really cool moves with a soccer ball (see the amazing video below). The London Walks tour was awesome, showing us the high points of London, but by the time we were through, everyone was hungry and it was time to find some place to eat.
Wahaca, a Mexican restaurant serving small tapas, was our stop for midday dining. The whole family enjoyed tacos, fresh guacamole, salsa and the best part, churros with chocolate sauce. The meal was so delicious. One thing that I thought was cool, was instead of having a bowl of matchboxes, they had a bowl of matchboxes with pepper seeds (That is a neat way to remember a restaurant by and a great way to start planting.).
After lunch we headed over to Covent Garden because it was a fun place to visit and we were right in the neighborhood. Covent Garden is known for their artist market, small shops and street perfromers. All types of interesting things were for sale there...fruit candles, jewelry, knitted bikinis. (That's right, KNITTED bikinis.) We decided to buy a beautiful watercolor of Big Ben and Parliament by a local artist as a memory of our trip. We also found a cool trivet made out of Juniper wood. Juniper wood is known for its pleasant scent and this trivet smelled terrific and was constructed in an extremely interesting pattern. As we strolled away from the artist market and shops, we encountered the street performers. Psycho Sam (his name of choice) was center stage and he was crazy. He could dance and move like a robot. Next he swallowed a long, skinny balloon (One of the ones they use to make a hat or a balloon animal out of, not a round one.). His last act was balancing on a ladder, while having spoons covering his eyes and juggling all at the same time. When Sam was choosing his volunteers, my Dad was chosen. My Dad and one other man had to hold up the ladder by pulling on ropes. They had to hold the weight of the ladder and make sure that Sam didn't fall off. It was very stressful. (Sorry, Daddy)
Wednesday evening was one of the best nights of our London adventure. We enjoyed lamb and naan at an Indian restaurant and then went to see the Michael Jackson show Thriller LIVE! Madison and I were ecstatic. We danced and rocked the night away listening to all of Michael Jackson's songs. It was fantastic! The awesome show was capped off with milkshakes at an American style diner on the walk back to our hotel. All in all, Wednesday was a wonderful day!

Terrific Tuesday
Tuesday arrived after a good nights sleep. We were all a little tired because of the time change, but we knew that sooner or later we would have to get used to it. After a breakfast filled with chocolate croissants and delicious, fresh squeezed orange juice, we traveled on the Tube to the London Eye. The London Eye looks like a giant Ferris Wheel with glass boxes moving extremely slowly. Instead of having to wait for hours on the long line, we were lucky that Mommy had bought special tickets online that allowed us to move to the front of the queue. The ride on the Eye lasts about 30-40 minutes and we were able to see everything. The views were incredible. You could see Big Ben, Parliament, and many other London landmarks.
Once we were back on land, the whole family was hungry for lunch. We ate at a restaurant with a funny name, Wagamama, but good food. They served Asian food and fresh squeezed juices.
A visit to the nearby Tate Modern, an art museum, was our afternoon activity, but it was a strange museum with weird non-art artwork and nobody really enjoyed this experience. In fact, one of the pieces of artwork was just 8 pieces of wood lined up against a wall. It was so bizarre. We cruised the Thames River to head back to our part of town. The ferry ride was slow, but at least I was able to say that I was actually on the Thames River!
I must report that one of the best parts of our trip was when we went to afternoon tea at Claridge's. While listening to lovely piano and cello music, we were served cucumber sandwiches, apple and raisin scones, delectable pastries and warm comforting tea. It was so relaxing and my whole family enjoyed the entire experience. I would love to have afternoon tea every day!

Madison's Birthday Week
This week has been all about Madison. For me, it's hard to believe that my sister is turning 16. Her SWEET SIXTEEN!!! I love her and will always love her, but I remember when we used to play with dolls and had an imaginary friend and small silly things like that. To start her (Birth Week) off, we had lunch at one of her favorite restaurants, Watershed, with a close family friend who is like an aunt to us. Her name is Anita and she plays tennis with my mom. She is funny and I always know that I will have a good time with her. My mom, sister and I enjoyed the mussels. I have just recently learned to like mussels and man were they good. They weren't just good, THEY WERE GREAT!!! For dinner that night, we went to Taqueria del Sol. (That's my favorite restaurant.) This place has excellent fish and chicken tacos, but their sweet tea, fresh salsa and cheese dip is to die for.
The next day we went to visit Nana. We had brunch at Mimi's Cafe and it was delicious. I had chocolate chip pancakes with bacon. YUMMY! :) After our wonderful brunch, we were surprised to find out that we were visiting The Shermans. (Todd, Amy, Aidan and Ian are our cousins.) Aidan and Ian, our twin cousins, were just recently born. They are unbelievably CUTE!! We stayed over for a couple of hours. We held them and watched them sleep. I love that family so much and I know that Todd and Amy will do a wonderful job of raising them and I can't wait to watch them grow up. Once we had hugged and air kissed the beautiful baby boys, the four of us, (Nana, Pop-Pop, Madison and I), headed to Macy's to have a short shopping trip for Madison's birthday. Madison got a darling white skirt and a dark tank top, while I chose a pink and brown tie dyed skirt. After we got back to Nana's apartment and had a short rest, we headed out in nice clothes to a restaurant called Fleming's. FYI : If you enjoy lamb chops, get them at Fleming's. (They are the best lamb chops I have ever had.)
After a good nights rest, I woke up on Friday refreshed and went to play a tennis match. It was the first time I was playing on my USTA team and I was a little nervous. I was playing singles and my opponent was a girl that had won the last tournament I had played in. She had an excellent serve, was head and shoulders above me in her playing ability and won the match 3-8. Later that day, it was time to go to the bris for the twin boys Aidan and Ian. The boys were adorable even though they had a rough day. Amy and Todd did a terrific job arranging everything. (By the way, the food was EXCELLENT) (Picture: Left to right: Aidan, Amy and Ian.) (Sorry Todd, I can only insert one image)
Tomorrow is Madison's birthday and I have heard that there are even more surprises. I can't wait. Hopefully she will like her presents and enjoy her SWEET 16!
We leave for London soon and I am super excited. I probably won't write while I am away, but I will be sure to fill you in when I get back.

Movie Madness
This past week I saw two great movies. One, Killers, and the second, Karate Kid. Both were excellent movies. I saw Killers first with my sister Madison and my mom. It was hysterical, there was a little too much killing for my taste, but I enjoyed it for the most part. Basically, it's about a guy, Ashton Kutcher, who is a secret agent. He falls in love with a girl, Katherine Heigl, and he decides to retire. After they have been married for three years, people that he knows well, his friends, neighbors, even people at work, turn on him and want to kill him. No one knows why or who the person is that has decided to send the people, but all the couple knows is that they are in great danger. The couple must run and become closer to survive this part of their life.
Karate Kid, starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan, was touching. It was a story of a twelve year old boy who must leave his friends and family behind and move to China. On the first day, he gets beat up because he was flirting with a girl. (The girl was arranged to marry the boy who beat up Jaden.) Dre is the name of the main character who wants to learn real Kung Fu. One of the maintenance men helps stop a fight and Dre asks him to be his Kung Fu teacher. Mr. Han, the maintenance man, says yes and gets the boys to leave Dre alone, but Dre must fight in a Kung Fu tournament. Dre and Mr. Han become very close friends through the process and create a relationship like no other.

Summer Is Here!
It's finally summer and I am thrilled. School is over and the homework is done. I can't wait to relax and enjoy my spectacular summer.
Last week to start the summer off, I had dinner with a very close family friend named Pam. She is so cool; she's funny, spontaneous and loves our family. After dinner at Bambinellis, we went to see Letters to Juliet the movie. It was a wonderful romantic comedy with a little touch of mystery. We all enjoyed the film, you should definitely go see the movie if you like the story of Romeo and Juliet.
On Saturday, June 5 I had a tennis tournament in Sandy Springs. During the first day of the tournament, I won my first two matches playing tough girls. The next day, I played in the semi-finals at 8:30 AM. I lost to a girl who ended up going to the finals and she was a whole year older than me. Later that day, I played a match to decide third and fourth place. I had won the first set 6-4 and we were in the middle of the second set, when it started to rain. We had to stop and when we came back from the rain delay, my opponent won the second set 4-6. (In tennis you always say your score first.) We then headed to a 10-point tiebreaker. I was able to squeeze out the win, defeating her 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. I was so proud of myself. In that tournament, I had gotten third place overall, only losing one match. (That was the best I had ever done. To add to that excitement, my state ranking in my age group went up significantly and now I am 307 in U14 girls tennis in GA. Before that, I was in the mid 400's.)
Right after I finished my match, we headed home because we were going to visit Nana since her birthday was a few days before. My mom and I whipped up a cake as fast as we could. (Chocolate, White Icing and Sprinkles. It was delicious!!!) We drove to Nana’s apartment and celebrated with Pop-Pop, too. I gave Nana a pillow I had made in a short-term class at my school and the rest of the family presented Nana with a beautiful necklace. I enjoyed spending time with the family, but I was exhausted and needed sleep. It had been a long weekend, but extremely fun. What a great way to start off my spectacular summer!
